Maliq

The Municipality of Maliq lies in one of the most fertile agricultural areas of Albania, in the area of the former Maliq swamp, dried up in the 1950s. The city of Maliq was established as an important center of the food industry in the country with several important products such as sugar, molasses or starch as well as the wood processing industry. Maliq Municipality consist of the following administrative units: Libonik, Vreshtas, Pirg, Moglicë, Gore, Pojan and the city of Maliq and it lies on an area of 652 km2. Maliq Municipality has a population of 65,518 inhabitants, according to the Civil Registry and 41,757 inhabitants, according to INSTAT, Census 2011. This municipality has 1 city and 80 villages.
