The Municipality of Librazhd

Librazhd

The new Municipality of Librazhd lies in the east of Albania and is bordered in the north by the municipality of Bulqiza, in the east by the Republic of Macedonia, in the south with the municipality of Perrenjas, as well as in the west with the municipalities of Elbasan and Tirana. The center of the municipality is the city of Librazhd. The municipality has a rich vegetation area, extensive forest areas and numerous hydropower resources. The new Librazhd Municipality consist of 7 administrative units, which are Librazhd, Qendër Librazhd, Hotolisht, Lunik, Stëblevë, Polis and Orenje, and lies in an area of 793.36 km2. Librazhd Municipality has a population of 44,538 inhabitants, according to the Civil Registry and 31,892 inhabitants, according to INSTAT, Census 2011. The new municipality has under its administration a city and 52 villages.
