The Municipality of Dropull

Dropull

The Dropull Municipality is among the new municipalities that were created after the Administrative-Territorial Reform of 2015. The municipality consists in three administrative units: Dropull i Poshtëm, Dropull i Sipërm and Pogoni. The center of the Municipality is located in the village of Jorgucat. The Municipality of Dropull borders to the north with Përmet, Libohova and Gjirokastra, to the west with Delvinë and Finiq and to the south and east with Greece. It lies in the southeast of Albania, in Gjirokastër County within an area of 466.67 km2. Along the municipal territory passes the national road Gjirokastër-Kakavijë, which in Dervican it is branched with the national road Gjirokastër-Sarandë. The municipality is characterized by members of the ethnic Greek minority in Albania and the population in this area is entirely rural. In its territory, the Municipality of Dropull counts some large businesses that have their center of operation in Dropull, thus helping to the economic development of the area, through the employment of local residents and those of neighboring municipalities.
