The Municipality of Lushnje

Lushnje

After the administrative reform, the municipality of Lushnje consists of eleven administrative units: Lushnjë, Allkaj, Bubullimë, Hysgjokaj, Golem, Dushk, Karbunare, Ballagat, Fier Shegan, Kolonjë and Krutje; and has under its administration one city and 85 villages. This municipality lies in the Western Lowland of Albania. Covering a surface of 373 km2 the relief of this municipality is characterized as soft with fields and hills. According to the civil registry for 2016, the Municipality of Lushnje counts a population of 129,604 inhabitants. The main economic activities are related to agriculture and livestock sector, which also provides most of the employment. Nevertheless, service sector is somewhat developed and but the industrial sector is the least developed. Lushnje Municipality is situated in a very favorable geographic position, as is crossed by important national roads (Tirana – Fier) and is close to the main ports and the airport of Albania.
