The Municipality of Konispol

Konispol

Konispol Municipality lies at the most southern tip of Albania and covers an area of 222 km2. This municipality consists of three administrative units: Konispoli, Markat and Xarrë and includes one city and 12 villages. According to the civil registry for 2016, the Municipality has a population of 13,724 inhabitants. After the administrative reform of 2015, the municipality has in its administration a coastline of about 10 kilometers at the Cape of Stillo. Despite the rare beauty of this coastline and its great touristic potential, currently this area is not developed as it should. Agriculture especially cultivation of citruses, livestock breeding and cross-border trade with Greece are the main economic activities. However, as a result of the proximity of the Qafë Botë Custom, the Municipality of Konispol is characterized by a seasonal migration to Greece.
