The Municipality of Libohove

Libohove

The Municipality of Libohova is a new municipality, established after the implementation of the Administrative-Territorial Reform of 2015. This municipality consists of three administrative units: Libohova, Libohova Center and Zagorie. This municipality covers an area of 248.2 km2 and its center is the town of Libohova. According to the civil registry for 2016, the municipality of Libohova has a population of 7,080 habitants. Over the past 20 years, Libohova's population has experienced a low level of demographic growth, although emigration or migration has decreased considerably. The Libohova Municipality's economy is mostly characterized by a combination of agriculture and livestock economy. Libohova counts on its territory and a variety of medicinal herbs. However, recently, there has been some development, the service sector and the agro-food industry. The area included in the new municipality is rich in archaeological, historical, cultural and natural monuments like Libohova Castle, internationally recognized with unique values, thus turning the Municipality into a potential tourist center that can be visited all year.
